Vielsesring og hvepsestik

Det var en grim oplevelse, da min veninde, Hanne, for nogle dage siden blev stukket af en hveps på en finger på højre hånd. Hun havde siddet på sin terrasse og nydt en kop kaffe, og ved et uheld havde hun lagt sin hånd ned på bordet lige ovenpå en hveps, som hun ikke havde set. Den havde selvfølgelig øjeblikkeligt stukket hende.

Hun er ikke specielt overfølsom overfor hvepsestik, så hun gjorde ikke noget særligt ved det. Desværre tænkte hun heller ikke på at tage sin vielsesring af, og det kom til at koste hende dyrt.

Et par timer efter hvepsestikket kom Hanne over til mig og bad mig om hjælp. Hendes finger var hævet så meget, at det var komplet umuligt for hende at få ringen af fingeren på normal vis, og den strammede nu så meget, at hun havde voldsomme smerter.

Jeg bad min mand kigge på fingeren, og han sagde straks, at det var tvingende nødvendigt at klippe ringen over med en bidetang, for det kunne reelt være livstruende for Hanne, hvis den fik lov at sidde der og stoppe blodomløbet.

Det gjorde næsten ondt på mig, da min mand resolut hentede en bidetang i værktøjskassen og klippede Hannes vielsesring over. Men jeg kunne se på Hanne, at det var en stor lettelse, da ringen kom af.

Jeg har nok et lidt specielt forhold til vielsesringe, som for mig indebærer noget meget symbolsk. Derfor påvirkede det mig at se min mand klippe Hannes ring over, men han mente nu nok, at en dygtig guldsmed kunne reparere den, så den kunne komme tilbage på Hannes finger.

Da Hanne et par dage senere skulle ind til byen for at foretage nogle indkøb, spurgte hun, om jeg ikke havde lyst til at tage med. Det gjorde jeg, og et af hendes ærinder var at besøge en guldsmed for at høre, om det var muligt at reparere gifteringe, der var blevet klippet over.

Guldsmeden kiggede nærmere på Hannes ring og konstaterede, at den kunne han godt reparere. Det er anderledes med billige vielsesringe, forklarede han, for de er ofte fremstillet af en legering, som ikke egner sig til at blive smeltet sammen igen.

Hanne blev lettet over, at det kunne lade sig gøre at reparere ringen, for den betød ekstra meget for hende, efter at hun mistede sin mand for fire år siden. Hun vidste godt, at der var tale om en ret dyr ring, for hun havde selv været sammen med sin mand om at købe deres bryllupsringe kort før deres bryllup for mange år siden.

Hun overlod sin ring til guldsmeden, som dog lige sikrede sig, at den skulle have samme størrelse som tidligere. Det skal den, understregede Hanne, for den har altid passet mig fint, og hævelsen efter hvepsestikket er allerede forsvundet helt, sagde hun.

Besøget hos guldsmede lærte vi begge noget af. Det kan ikke anbefales at købe for eksempel forlovelsesringe billige, for hvis de senere viser sig at blive for små, fordi fingrenes tykkelse ændrer sig, kan de ifølge vores guldsmed ikke i alle tilfælde udvides. Du kan læse mere om vielse her.
