Bent vurderer skader

En af mine gode venner, Bent, fik sidste år nyt arbejde, fordi en dårlig ryg gav ham problemer med det job, han ellers har haft i mere end 20 år. Han er uddannet bilmekaniker og har faktisk altid holdt meget af sit job, som han helt sikkert også har været dygtig til.

Men selv om der i dag er alskens moderne hjælpemidler, kan en mekaniker ikke undgå at stå bøjet med overkroppen næsten nede i en bils motorrum flere gange om dagen. På et tidspunkt gik den ikke længere, for Bents ryg ville ganske enkelt ikke være med mere.

Han var sygemeldt en kort periode, og så snart han holdt sig væk fra jobbet, fik hans ryg det bedre igen. Han var heldig med efter en kort sygdomsperiode at få et job som taksator i et forsikringsselskab. Hans uddannelse og erfaring passede fint til det nye arbejde, og han kan som taksator stort set helt undgå de belastende stillinger for ryggen.

Hans arbejde består mest i at vurdere omfanget af en skade, når den er så tilpas stor, at ejerens bilforsikring skal dække udgifterne. Faktisk består den væsentligste del af hans indsats vel nok i at undgå, at det værksted, der skal reparere skaden, skruer lidt for meget op for udgifterne.

Bent fortalte mig forleden, at han syntes, at hans nuværende job er dejligt afvekslende, fordi to skader på biler aldrig er ens. Især om sommeren er han også af og til i den situation, at han bliver kaldt ud til en campingvogn, der har fået skader efter et uheld. Det er vigtigt, at man i sin campingvognsforsikring også har kaskodækning, fortalte Bent, for det kan blive en overordentlig dyr fornøjelse, hvis ejeren selv skal betale for reparation af en skade på campingvognen.

Vi havde en hyggelig snak om forskellige forsikringer, for i kraft af sin ansættelse i et forsikringsselskab, er Bent ret godt inde i emnet, og jeg har også tidligere spurgt ham til råds en enkelt gang.

Det var for et halvt års tid siden, da jeg valgte at anskaffe mig en trailer. Hidtil havde jeg med jævne mellemrum lånt min nabos trailer, men naboen flyttede, og så var jeg nærmest tvunget til selv at købe en. Jeg spurgte den gang Bent, om der var noget specielt, jeg skulle tage hensyn til i forbindelse med købet. Selv havde jeg ikke tænkt på en særlig forsikring i den anledning, men Bent anbefalede mig varmt at tegne en decideret trailerforsikring, for så ville jeg være dækket ind så godt, som det kan lade sig gøre.

Det gjorde jeg selvfølgelig, og det var naturligt for mig at tegne den i det forsikringsselskab, hvor Bent er ansat. Den forsikring omfatter også et eventuelt tyveri af traileren, og det er bestemt relevant for mig, for jeg har ikke plads til at have den i garagen, så enhver kan reelt løbe med den, hvis uheldet er ude. Og så kan det blive dyrt, for når den står frit tilgængeligt kan jeg ikke regne med, at min indboforsikring kan dække tabet.
